We're All Going On A Summer Holiday

Thankfully we are not going with Cliff or in a red double decker bus (although my VW Sharan is affectionately known as "The Bus") but yup the Menagarie is heading off for a 2 week break down to Oxford and then Stratford-upon-Avon
I would like to say to we are heading for sunnier climes compared to cold Arbroath but given the weather we have had in the UK this last 6 weeks then wellies and brollies will probably be the order of the day.
I'll have limited access to the internet while we are away as the O2 outage that happened on Wednesday seems to have completely buggered up my SIM card so that I can't get 3G access and it's too late for me to get a replacement SIM. So unless I hit some Wi-Fi hot spots or Mrs Kingsleypark lets go of the iPad long enough for me to use it then I'll struggle to keep up with all the happenings in Blogland.
So see you all in a fortnight!

The Kingsleypark Giveaway Competition - Results!

Well the tension was high today at Kingsleypark Manor. And no, it wasn't due to a certain tennis match. Oh well, never mind Andy Murray, there's always next year.

No, the excitement was due to the grand draw at the conclusion of The Kingsleypark Giveaway Competition which was announced last week. Many thanks to all those who left comments and extra special thanks to those who pimped the blog on their own blogs.

Special mention must also go to Anne of the Anne's Attic blog who, despite challenging the painting machine that is Ray of the Don't Throw a 1 blog to what promises to be a dramatic painting challenge show down (read all about it here ), offered to give her chance in the draw to Ray. Will it have been enough to secure Ray one of the coveted Prizes? Read on MacDuff.

First prize to be contested was the "The Battle of Hastings - The Fall of Anglo-Saxon England" by Harriet Harvey Wood
No spreadsheets or dice rolling for me to ascertain who the winner of this book. No, I had something much more practical - cue the "Hand of Catie" -
And the winner is Seb, of the Back to the Minis blog
Next prize to be drawn for was "The Emperor's Last Victory"  by Gunther Rothenberg and the winner of this book......
Is Tim, of the Fidus et Audax blog
Finally, we had the Lloyd Clark book - "Crossing the Rhine - Breaking into Nazi Germany 1944 and 1945 - The Greatest Airborne Battles in History"
So many congratulations to the winners, commiserations to those who didn't win, but many thanks once again to all those who took the time to enter.
If the winners could comment here with their e-mail details I can e-mail them for their snail mail address and get the the prizes posted off to them.

The Kingsleypark Giveaway Competition

Well as promised, it's my turn to say thank you to all you folks out there who take the time to follow these witterings about my Wargaming Hobby exploits (or in some cases the lack of them) and hold a giveway competition. As I mentioned in my post here the menagerie finally hit the 50 follower mark (and continues to creep up).

Now, it had crossed my mind to do something similar as Dan of the Gunners Wargaming blog or Ray at the  Don't Throw a 1 blog and offer to paint up a unit of figs for the winner. However, as the winner will probably then have to wait 12 months for their prize, given my rate of painting , I thought that probably wasn't such a good idea.

And Tamsin of the Wargaming Girl blog is offering up some Flames of War prizes to celebrate her blog's six month birthday, but alas I don't have any nice shiny unpainted figs available to do likewise.

So, I'm sticking to the tried and tested formula of offering some books as the booty for the lucky winners, and yes that is plural, 3 winners.

3 books up for grabs- first up is "The Battle of Hastings - The Fall of Anglo-Saxon England" by Harriet Harvey Wood -

Next is "The Emperor's Last Victory"  by Gunther Rothenberg which is about the Battle of Wagram in 1809

And finally, we have "Crossing the Rhine - Breaking into Nazi Germany 1944 and 1945 - The Greatest Airborne Battles in History" by Lloyd Clark.

So what do you have to do to get your mitts on one of these tomes?. Nothing too onerous: -

1. Be a public follower of the blog - so make sure your mugshot/ avatar is showing down below;

2. Leave a comment saying which book you prefer and if you want to try for all 3 then list your order of preference.

3. Enter before midnight Saturday 7 July 2012 ( Arbroath time).

I'll select the winner of each book once the closing date has passed and announce them to all and sundry in the blog.

Good luck everyone!!!
